You will both be driven to Arusha Airport for your scheduled flight to the Manyara Airstrip. On arrival, you will be met by our guide who will take you on a game drive to the lodge. Tarangire’s landscape is incredibly diverse with a mix that is not found anywhere else on the    northern safari circuit. It is dotted with ancient baobab trees, which the Maasai people believe are the first tree in creation, and large termite mounds. The dry season sees the harsh sun suck the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth Сonfidential, a dusty red while the wet season brings dense bush and luscious high grasses. Famous for its large elephant population, it is also home to zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, waterbuck, baboons, dwarf mongoose, impala, buffalo, antelope and fringe-eared oryx.

Day 4 & 5 – NgoroNgoro Crater Safaris, Ngorongoro Crater.

Take a scenic drive to the Manyara Airstrip on the escarpment and upon arrival, be welcomed by your private guide who will drive you to your next lodge.

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge has been called the game lodge at the top of the world. Between the natural riches of the Crater spread out at its feet and the incredible architecture, it’s easy to believe that you have entered a realm of pure fantasy.

The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area is home to more than 30 000 protected animals. It is an area of spectacular beauty and excellent game viewing, an utterly unique safari destination in Africa for couples in love. The Ngorongoro Crater, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world.

Wake early to the views of the Crater, and after breakfast head off for a full day game drive on the Crater floor, abundant with wildlife – view black rhino that are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephants, big-maned lions stalking the grasslands, and bright pink flamingos crowding the soda lakes, an extraordinary experience awaits you both here.

Hold hands and take a gentle stroll on the rim of the Crater with your guide and savour Champagne and nibbles with a sensational view.

Drive into the famous Ngorongoro crater. Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze nearby while sleeping lions laze in the sun. At dawn, the endangered black rhino returns to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist. Just outside the crater’s ridge, tall Maasai herd their cattle and goats over green pastures through the highland slopes, living alongside the wildlife as they have for centuries.

We will depart for the Ngorongoro Crater early in the morning as it is a wonderful time to spot game. We will go on a game drive with a picnic lunch inside the crater. The majority of the animals tend to reside within the crater due to its elevated structure. There is a high possibility of spotting every member of ‘The Big 5’. The group comprises some of the strongest animals in Africa – the ferocious lion, the giant elephant, the swift leopard, the tough rhino and the charging buffalo. The Crater formed millions of years ago when a large volcano erupted. You can expect to encounter zebras, hippo, wildebeest and cackling hyenas. There are graceful flamingos along the Soda Lake and vultures are constantly circling the sky in search of a discarded carcass. Storks and geese are popular waterbirds in the crater. The game drive will conclude shortly after lunch.

If you start first thing in the morning, you will find the Serengeti at its most active. This is when Africa can reveal its cool side, so you should wrap up warm (we aim to be on the road before the sun rises at around 6.00 am). Our open vehicles bring you as close as possible to the wildlife, just when the action is likely to be most exciting. Few predators hunt during the heat of the day, so the early morning is the best time to observe the thrill of the chase. It is also a magical time, with the subtle light dappling the landscape, the birds awakening and the sense of a great adventure beginning to unfurl. And just when your stomach starts to complain, we’ll give you a late breakfast in the bush, before further viewing leads you back at about 11.00 am, in good time for lunch at camp.

Witness a whole new aspect of the Serengeti

 An ideal start to the day heading into the bush for an evening game drive has a level of excitement and character all its own, as predators begin their nightly search for prey. As the day cools and the sky is streaked by red, gold and orange hues, you may be surprised by the roar of a lion, a galloping giraffe, or the high pitched giggling of hyenas’ fighting over a kill. At a suitable vantage point, your guide will pause, allowing you to enjoy a sundowner in blissful comfort.
